August 1st 2010: New dates at DONINGTON PARK & SILVERSTONE
We've confirmed several new track days at the newly re-opened Donington Park and the new Arena GP track at Silverstone. October, November and December see us visiting these great venues for both bike and car track days. For Donington in 2010 it's the National circuit that will be in action - a favourite with track day enthusiasts.
The car track days will be full open-pitlane with guaranteed no overbooking so you'll have free access to the track.
The bike track days will be run using our now benchmark "flexi" system which though limiting numbers typically 35% lower than other organisers (like our car trackdays) and employing what we call "active pitlane and track management" (like out car days, rather than buggering off like other organisers to get tracktime for ourselves) - this results in better track time and space when you want it rather than when we say you have to have it. Result? Our average red-flag incident per event is now less than 0.5 per event. Yes - less than 1 per 2 trackdays!
Autumn/winter 2010 diary of events extended - for both cars and bikes. It's been a sell out first half of the year, 32 UK trackdays completed and all great (bar one Brands evening which could have been better - live and learn, we're limiting these evenings to just 35 attendees total from now on) with some very high driving standards which has seen the red and black flag frequency at our events drop to an average of below one !! The majority of those have been due to mechanical failures so hat's off to the riders and drivers - on-track standards are down to you and we know it, so thanks. We'd like to see everyone more often then so we've confirmed some more dates for the Autumn and winter season. Car drivers now have a minimum of 1 per week to choose from, increasing to 7 events in just 14 days for the end of the year. Riders don't need to feel left out either - although we traditionally break bike trackdays for winter at the end of October, we're going to exploit global warming and extend into November. This amount of choice extends into 2011 too, with 65 car events and 60 bike UK events being planned.Thank's for the first 6 months everyone, let's see you out in the second half of the year!
JUNE 18th 2010: New bike track day added: Cadwell Park 15th September
Our bike track days continue to gain amazing reviews so we're adding a few more for the year. Expect additional events at Mallory, Oulton Park, Brands Hatch and Snetterton later in the year. Keep an eye on the bike trackday page for events as they arrive.
MAY 18th 2010: New car track day added: August 16th Bedford Autodrome
We know you love it so we've added another summertime date at the Autodrome - Monday August 16th. Get in early for a discounted rate. Remember, we only book a maximum number that is equivalent of no more than double the amount of cars allowed out on track at any one time. Since nobody can drive constantly - indeed anymore than 20 minutes at once will only result in brake fade and dead tyres - that that means is that you won't be sitting in a line all day waiting to get out on track. Proper open-pitlane!
MAY 5th 2010: Novice guides back online.
Both car track day and bike track day novice guides are now back online. Presented a little differently than before and some additional sections, you should find them easier to use. If you've any remaining questions there is also our general FAQ page and of course feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.
APRIL 28th 2010: Oulton Park trackday report.
Well we think, considering the size of the reserve list we could have filled this day two or three times over. Must be weather!
We stuck to our guns though and kept the numbers tight so aside from a couple of instances where unfortunate cars failed in the heat, the tracktime was free flowing without having to wait to get on track. Once again the trackday went past without an accident or need to use the black flag (aside from you know who!) and a good time by all. From X-Bow to Aston, VXR to 911, Ferrari to CLK, Caterham to BMW there was certainly an interesting mix of cars on show and my my they were keen though with many using their trackday tracktime up in the morning but leaving the track empty at times in the afternoon! British SuperBikes setting up in the paddock could have been a pain, but we all got along OK without any 2 verses 4 wheel bust ups. Roll on the next Oulton Park car trackday which is on 2nd June. Be quick though, it's almost fully booked.
APRIL 7th 2010: First bike trackday of the year.
A fully booked bike trackday at Cadwell Park. Some new tarmac put down just a few days before the bike trackday. April showers. You may be forgiven for thinking thats a recipe for disaster BUT if you do, you're forgetting one or two of the EasyTrack trackday flavorings: The usual great crowd of riders and our promise to always limit numbers to 35% less than other trackday organisers meaning a more relaxed, flexible tracktime day. The result? How about not a single red or black flag all day long !!!
The sun was out to start, but then went away. The sun came back out at the end! Nobody really minded and everyone got to learn a lot about riding in varying track conditions. Far more stayed on to ride than went home because of the rain, and the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly as always. The novice and first time riders had the benefit of some BSB riders as instructors to call on and the more experienced had the benefit of our flexible attitude which meant they could work their tracktime around the showers. All in all a good solid start to the year.
MARCH 21st 2010: New interim website launched.
We're very very very very busy behind the scenes putting together what will no doubt be the best car and bike track day website in the world. It's taking a lot of time, because it's THAT good. When it arrives later in 2010 we're sure you'll make it your homepage! Until then, we've put together the one you see now based around a leading ecommerce platform and frankly don't think it's that bad in itself!
Everything is automated and, importantly, top-level online security is now assured - something sadly lacking in the trackday industry before now. When you book you'll receive emails with links to download the relevant event info OR you can come back to here where your account page will have a downloads section. The novice/faq sections will be updated next week, and a few other tweeks to come. Look out too for an extended event diary - 20 events being added in the next 2 weeks. If you are an upgraded member, simply email us the event you want to do and we'll take care of it for you. Oh, you may also have noticed that for the first time since 2001 we've put our bike and car events on the same site. Why? Well we're increasing the number of bike events by over 400% in the next coming months so time to just have the 1 site to look after, plus we reckon a fair few of you enjoy yourself on both 2 and 4 wheels and maybe didn't even know we do both!
MARCH 15th 2010: Protect yourself from the deadly noise meter!
Once again we're first with the ideas aimed at making everyones trackdays just that little bit easier!
A simple fact is that most circuits have noise limits in force on trackdays. If you don't pass these tests, you won't be out on track. The limits are imposed and enforced by local authorities under planning and environmental control laws and the venues simply cannot be flexible and those who do fail have no comeback - the booking is lost. Most noise tests take the form of a static test (normally measured at 3/4 max revs 50cm from the exhaust outlet) and a drive-by which is monitored through the day from the trackside, often at multiple places around a track. We should point out that approx 90% of attendees with pass the tests and enjoy a day without worry but sods law dictates that you can never really be sure until you attend an event:
You could rent a meter - but is it calibrated and the same make and model the race track uses?
You could visit a circuit and have a static test - but if it's borderline how do you know you will pass the drive-by?
You could get tested at one race track - but again will all be the same at the next?
Trust us, there is little consistency in noise meters and final readings depend on everything from the weather to the temperature of the engine. This optional upgrade covers anyone whose car or bike turns out to be a borderline failure (passes the static but then fails the initial drive-by) and rather than loosing out entitles you to a 75% credit note to use on another date
MARCH 10th 2010: Porsche drivers agree - Easytrack has no substitute!
We're flattered, excited and overjoyed (but perhaps not surprised) to have been voted the 2009 Porsche Trackday Specialist in the 911uk.com Porsche Awards.
With our 10th annual Porsche RS day just 2 days away the timing is perfect! To celebrate we're now busy adding some additional Porsche orientated events - watch this space.
