Beginners - what is a track/airfield day? |
Track and Airfield days give you the opportunity to drive your car in an environment away from the road (and hence oncoming traffic and speed cameras). You’ll be joined by the ever-growing army of enthusiasts who have already caught the trackday bug.
Days are sociable and low pressure, there is no element of competition and the emphasis is on fun.
TRACKDAYS give you access to actual racing circuits that you see on TV and you get to drive your own car around them. They are actually very safe places to be doing this, far far safer than the road but there are risks involved and you must accept those risks. Accidents are rare but can happen, but are almost always down to driver error, so come along with the right attitude and take one step at a time. Being sensible will help make sure you go home with nothing extra other than a smile on your face.
Many members will recommend that prior to going on a proper circuit, you try an AIRFIELD DAY first. These became popular after an easytrack airfield day was featured on BBC TopGear a few years ago. The idea is to provide a lower key, lower cost event based at an airfield where circuits can be laid out. People often feel safer at airfield due to the open surroundings. These days will be less glamorous but you still have the same access to instructors as at circuits and the same safety rules apply. |
