EasyTrack RaceDays bank holiday May 7th and 8th
CIRCUIT DE CLASTRES – St Quentin, FRANCE

Designed to be informal, sociable and fun trackday based events with a great atmosphere and a bit of fun and safe competition to spice things up.
We’ll make it clear from the start, there are no large packs of vehicles racing hell bent taking each other out. Indeed most rules are the same as track days and should be approached as such but with some “gentleman’s competition” thrown in. This is racing for fun, not reward.
Most of the competition element are timed sprint laps against the clock or similar grouped car/driver starting at a different point on the track. We also run auto-tests, slaloms and skill challenges. We’ll take a look at your Grand Prix start technique, and sometimes, side by side drag-style challenges on a mile long straight (ex-runaway).
The circuit has been chosen for purpose, in that it’s driving skill rather than raw power that will see you succeed. It’s easy driving distance of the UK, less than 2 hours from Calais and driving there is no problem as no special modifications or equipment needed on cars. When you get there, you can expect more track time than you can handle – and you can even treat these days as normal track days if you wish to skip the competition elements. See more details on the events below.
About Clastres Circuit
Although based on an old airfield the circuit is in fact purpose designed and was built only a few years ago not using any of the existing areas. It does not get used that regularly so you really can consider the surface as being almost new!
It’s best described as being somewhere between a large sprint circuit and a smaller race track (although at 2km it’s longer than many – e.g. Brands Hatch).
At an average width of 8.5 meters there is plenty of room for exploring different lines and along with it’s generous, flat and grassed run-off areas it’s got that all important “safe” feel.
A range of technical corners mean you needing skill rather than brute power advantage on the straights to gain good times.
Usually, we also have use of a separate 1.8km drag straight for a bit of extra fun, though that can’t be confirmed in advance.
CIRCUIT LOCATION: About 160km from the Channel Tunnel at Calais. Easily within 2hrs as it’s all (A26) motorway. Main direction is St Quentin. Find exit (Sortie) 11 and head south on the D1 for a km or two and then onto the D8 to Clastres village. You then follow signs to “circuit automobile”. The directions available from Google Maps work well. If you are returning Tuesday night, we’d recommend booking a crossing for around 20:30 French time.
ACCOMMODATION: Search hotels in Saint Quentin. We stay at the Ibis in the centre of the historic town, which is about 20 minutes from track and benefits from secure parking.
REFRESHMENTS/FOOD: Will be provided on site for breakfast and an afternoon BBQ for those who select at booking. Other options are into St Quentin town (30 – 40 minute round trip).
FACILITIES: There are no pit-garages, but plenty of hard-standing areas. A new club house provides briefing room, spectator viewing points, toilets, showers and dining room.

Purpose designed and new tarmac.

A group of Porsche RS enjoyed their RaceDays at Clastres in 2011

It's a technical track, but you'll need more than wind power!

All kinds of cars are welcome to go for a good lap-time. Don't assume the Caterham got the best one!

No special modifications are needed, but if you must...
What happens on an EasyTrack RaceDay:
Designed to be informal, sociable and fun trackday based events with a great atmosphere and a bit of fun and safe competition to spice things up.
We’ll make it clear from the start, there are no large packs of vehicles racing hell bent taking each other out. Indeed most rules are the same as track days and should be approached as such but with some “gentleman’s competition” thrown in. This is racing for fun, not reward.
Most of the competition element are timed sprint laps against the clock or similar grouped car/driver starting at a different point on the track. We also run other challenges taking the form of auto-tests, slaloms and skill challenges. We’ll also take a look at your Grand Prix start technique, racing against similar skilled fellow enthusiasts and sometimes, side by side drag-style challenges.
Excellent, fun and informal European track chosen for the need for skill to define results rather than power:
- Easy driving distance of the UK. Less than 2 hours from Calais.
- No special modifications or equipment needed on cars.
- More track time than you can handle – you can even treat these days as normal track days if you wish.
- On-site breakfast and lunch – no need to hunt around a strange country!
The format of the days begins with practice/trackday in the mornings and immediately after lunch (timing encouraged – and we’ll be organising groups using times). Think of this part as a track day to get used to the track.
Each afternoon we stage 3 events organised into 3 groups (groups may be adjusted depending on the numbers/times).
These will be:
A. Racer group
B. Fast group
C. Rookies group
It must be emphasised that this is “Racing for Fun” – don’t expect a prize
Don’t feel nervous, just come and join the fun. They are still great track days but we’ll all but guarantee you’ll want to take part in the competition activities once you see the sort of smiles it puts on peoples faces.
