Without a doubt one of the most popular circuits in the world, Spa survives by its reputation. It’s only in the recent history of the track that it has been a full time circuit. Spa was conceived in the 1920’s when a triangular section of roads were adapted to hold racing in 1922. 1924 saw the first 24 Hours of Francorchamps, with the first GP, the European Grand Prix, in 1925. Seven cars took part in this event, which saw the victory of the famous Alfa Romeo driver, Antonio Ascari.

In 1970 the last Formula 1 Grand Prix took place on the then fourteen-kilometre-long track. For safety reasons this circuit was closed forever. A new 7 km track was used first in 1979 and it instantly gained a reputation as one of the best in the world. The Belgian Formula 1 Grand Prix quickly came back to Francorchamps.
Set in the Ardennes, just few hours from either Calais or the Nurburgring, this circuit is challenging yet safe and rewarding. Experience “Eau Rouge”, Pouhon and Blanchimont on the exclusive Spa trackday of the easyINTERNATIONAL September 2003 trip.
