Bike track day formats

Not all track days are the same format and it’s also important to consider that, during any event, it may become necessary for EasyTrack to change the format in operation e.g. dramatic change in weather. It’s rare this happens but it can.

The majority of our bike track days are run on the “flexl” basis, which is most suitable to most circuits. Even where “sessioned” is advertised, we run fewer bikes so if the riders behave – we flip to flexi on the day. That said, whichever format is in force you can be assured it’s the right one for the event and aimed at optimising track time, space and value for you – the rider.

FLEXI:
An EasyTrack original. A mid-way point between open-pitlane and sessioned events and has become very popular with riders of all levels. Taking the best elements of open-pitlane and the best of sessioned formats it allows for the rider to find their own time and space on circuit without worrying about missing tracktime or being late for a session. The idea is that this gives riders more flexibility and hence they will relax more. We beleive this leads to fewer accidents and the statistics seem to prove that with the average number of stoppages on our flexi days being less than one!
Typically we will have 35% fewer riders in total on a flexi day (hence the slightly higher price) and this is the secret to this format. The result is more space for the rider on circuit meaning the differering speeds are less of an issue. We still reserve times that are only for novice and only for advance, but sensible riders get access to other times. Let’s face it, one mans advanced rider is another mans novice – and on some days you’re on it and some days you are not…so why be locked into a session that may be the wrong one. Why use your precious 20 minute slot when all you want to do is check a new suspension setting or scrub some new tyres? With flexi format all these pitfalls are avoided. Flexi also removes the need for us to use the chequered flag too much. Each time an organiser does, a minimum of 5 minutes is lost. Through a 3 group day that’s 1.5hrs lost.

SESSIONED:
Cars are grouped into 1 of 3 groups by experience and take it in turns to go out onto circuit with that same group, in fixed time slots through the day. At certain circuits this works best, though the on-circuit limit need to be watched. Unlike other organisers EasyTrack NEVER fill the groups as riders may need to move group, and instructors need access to the circuit at all times. EasyTrack limit to the equivalent or less of 2.5 groups on these types of events not 3 or 4 as with other organisers. 4 group level of numbers = approx 10 minutes or less on track per hour!!! Avoid them, you’re being ripped off!

FULL OPEN-PIT:
This is where circuit access is totally unrestricted with no reserved times for any particular level. Popular with advanced riders, but we also use this on our novice events.
