This guide is meant simply as that – a guide not gospel. It is not necessarily how you will find the circuit to drive, but should give you some idea of what you will be doing:
Castle Combe used to be one of the fastest circuits in the UK, but it’s now been slowed down with the addition of the Esses and Bobbies chicane. It’s still not exactly slow mind you!
Among trackday enthusiasts it’s well known for it’s strict noise regulations. 100db and they are very efficient with the test.

As you exit the pits, you head towards Avon Rise. This is one of the trickiest parts of the track, as it gives you a blind lead into Quarry. You need to make sure you find and practice your braking and turn in points, before you attempt these two at speed, both are not very forgiving. The Esses are relatively simple, and you can carry a lot of speed in as the exit is very wide.

It’s difficult to get this wrong. The more speed you do carry through, the quicker you’ll have to work to get the car to the right in preparation of the next corner. It’s then a run down to what can appear to be a wall of earth at Tower. Get it right here and take your time.
You can come in tight on the kerb, but be wary that the track isn’t quite horizontal! Scrub off a lot of speed for Bobbies, it’s tight and get the power back on (catching that bit of oversteer) ready for the run down to Camp. Treat this one with respect, many a driver get caught out but it can be very rewarding once your corner speeds have gone up with your experience.
